Webinar: Deconstructing the Top IoT Attacks of 2016

In-brief: a recording and slides from the Security Ledger and Bastille’s recent webinar “Deconstructing the Top IoT Hacks of 2016” are now available online.

A couple of weeks back, The Security Ledger pulled together some of the top security experts in the Internet of Things space to talk about the year that was and some of the major security incidents with links to connected devices on the Internet of Things. With me were Bob Baxley, the Chief Engineer at Bastille Networks, Cesar Cerrudo, the CTO at IOActive Labs and Billy Rios an embedded device security expert and founder at Whitescope.

Among the incidents we discussed were the Mirai botnet attacks of October, a demonstration of attacks on the ZigBee wireless protocol in which a “worm” spread between connected lightbulbs and threats to critical infrastructure and enterprise networks, alike. In our wide-ranging discussion and Q&A we covered topics like using the Shodan search engine to locate IoT devices that may be exposing your network to attack, the risks of new, long-range wireless technologies and ways to prepare to defend your network from IoT attacks.

You can check out an audio of our conversation below and view the slides we used during our talk!

Enjoy!
