Microsoft put together an interesting infographic that corrals some of the companies IoT and security predictions and underscores problem areas in securing Internet of Things infrastructure.

Among the more intriguing predictions: 25% of all cyber attacks will target Internet of Things devices by the end of the decade, while half of all large IoT implementations will rely on cloud based security services. (That may be the statistic for 2016, as well, from what I can tell.) Alas: the percentage of the IT budget that will go to IoT is only on track to increase 10% during that period.

That 10% increase looks like underinvestment, given the first two data points. Its also possible, of course, that the increasing reliance on cloud based services will create economies of scale that let companies do more, less expensively than in the days of company owned and operated infrastructure, or the current environment of hybrid on premises and cloud deployments.
